Dick, Jane, and Sally, are real
youngsters who play amusing pranks, dress up in father's and mother's clothes,
visit grandmother and grandfather on the farm, romp with their pets, make fascinating
discoveries during a spring walk in the woods, and do many of the other things
that healthy, wide-awake youngsters delight in doing.
SALLY DICK and JANE Book TRIVIA !!
-
Dates listed below are for books published in the US by Scott, Foresman Co.
-
Books published in Canada by the W. J. Gage, Co. are pretty much identical in content and may have different dates, or no publishing date at all, some contain poems in the back that the US versions do not have.
-
The Basic Readers were also published in "Cathedral" editions for Catholic schools, with publishing years different from the dates listed below. In most of the Cathedral editions Sally, Dick and Jane in some books had a name change, to Judy, John, and Jean.
-
Books published in the United Kingdom were published for Scott, Foresman by Wheaton in Exeter, England. These books were smaller, both in soft cover and hard cover, with a bit larger text, and many came in two volumes, Part 1 and Part 2. Some words are different (like; cookie, is biscuit) while many stories used the same story line.
